In 1990 Steve and Phil Ehart produced a self-titled hard rock album for a band called BLONZ. Steve also played keyboards and sang background vocals on this album. This is yet a different undertaking for Steve but worth having for every Walsh completest.

Steve: "The Blonz was a treat for Phil and myself. We decided that if we were getting too old to play, we might as well help some “hair gods” get a contract. The guys were good people, and the singer had a style which I was attracted to. At the time he was being approached by Pantera I think it was, to sing for them, but they ended up sticking with their guy. Nathan kinda fell apart in the studio atmosphere however. He got very insecure when he started hearing himself in a clinical environment, away from all the tinkling glasses of booze in the clubs which they were use to playing in. He started smoking a lot of pot and the record reflects the effect it had on his voice. It’s similar to how I sound on Live at the Whiskey. I was going through kinda the same thing. I gave up eating and started doing a lot of drugs. Anyway, our career was shortlived as producers for a while. We went to L.A. to try to get more work on the heels of the Blonz release, but nobody wanted to know us."
